Writing an Honest Resume (continued)
Return to "Should you stretch the truth in your resume?"
The lies on your resume might not have highly public consequences, but they could hurt your reputation and damage your possibility of obtaining employment or advancing in a company.
There is a good chance that the information on your resume will be verified. Today, most companies outsource verification to third-party companies. They call and verify the dates, positions, degrees, schools, companies, and more. All the employer gets back is a report letting them know whether or not the information on your resume was accurate. It doesn’t look good if they get back a report filled with inconsistencies.
I hope I’ve convinced you that telling the truth in your resume is the best route to go. Since you’re going to be completely honest, it’s important that you write an effective resume that highlights your real experience and accomplishments.
